Ross Noble - There is nothing like a healthy dose of laughter to brighten the spirits! If you are looking for quality comedy, Ross Noble is the man to deliver. Bringing his mysterious El Hablador persona to a Surfers Paradise stage, Ross will again deliver his consistent brand of hilarious nonsense to Gold Coast crowds on 29 July.
Gold Coast Colour Run - If high energy fun inspires your senses, be sure to sign up for the brightest fun run in town. The Gold Coast Colour Run will hit our sandy shores during August … welcoming thousands of entrants to don white and giggle their way through an un-timed five kilometre track … being doused with vibrant coloured paints along the way. Across the finish line, you will be rewarded with a spectacular finish festival, complete with music, dancing and plenty more colour! The Gold Coast Colour Run will take place along Southport’s Marine Parade on 19 August 2018.
The annual Gold Coast Show – More than a century after its inception, the Gold Coast Show is still bringing all of the fun, competition, exhibitions, spectacular performances, delicious treats and hair-raising rides of a classic carnival to the Coast. To be held at the Broadwater Parklands and Owen Park from 31 August to 2 September, the show will this year see the return of a full equestrian program as well as the crowd favourite … the dog show! As dusk falls on each day, the setting will be transformed by “Luminocity” … a specialty-designed light festival highlighting the CBD.
SWELL Sculpture Festival – Marvel at the creative magic of distinguished local, national and international artists at this year’s SWELL Sculpture Festival. The showcase will see over 50 magnificent sculptures assembled against a Currumbin Beach backdrop for 10 days (14 September – 23 September), and will be supported by performance art, music, yoga amongst the sculpture and culinary delights.
Queensland Triathlon Series- Get outdoors this September and enjoy the atmosphere of a fabulous spectator sport. Queensland’s largest triathlon series will roll into Robina on 23 September, bringing with it a number of family-friendly races and the opportunity for newcomers to give triathlons a try. Get involved at Robina Parkway.
The Village Markets- Snap up a souvenir and soak up the good vibes at The Village Markets. These markets have become a Gold Coast institution and welcome as many as 100 boutique market stalls selling fashion, vintage, art, pre-loved and lifestyle items, with a side service of street food and music. The September markets will be on 2nd and 16th at 1 West Burleigh Road.
Bistro Chico Masterclasses - Return home from your Gold Coast holiday with a suntan and some creative new culinary skills, after a tapas masterclass at Main Beach hotspot Bistro Chico. Enjoy a glass of wine and engage in active demonstrations before sampling the fare for yourself, and receiving some take home recipe cards so you can recreate the treats at home. The classes are held on the first Monday of the month from 6.30pm at Shop 9, 26 Tedder Avenue.
Broadbeach Crafted Festival – Treat your tastebuds to the unique flavours of the Gold Coast and surrounds as specialty brews crafted by up to 35 local and interstate breweries are showcased at Crafted. On 6 October, Kurrawa Park will host lovers of beer, cider, ginger beer and live music, as well as some of the region’s best food trucks, all under a balmy spring sky.
World Parachute Championships – Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a gathering of the world’s best skydivers … in the one location, at the one time. The Gold Coast’s sandy beaches will set the scene for a hard fought battle during October, as the competitors vie for the title of World Champion. Spectators can even experience the feeling of flight from the safety of the ground, with the option to get in a mobile wind tunnel (or for the more adventurous, real sky dives will also be available). The championships will be held at 1 Sports Drive, Runaway Bay from 7 – 13 October.
Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award – Needing a dose of culture? Immerse yourself in one of the nation’s most important contemporary photographic events. This exhibition honours Mrs Win Schubert AO and showcases the works of both established and emerging photographers as they examine diverse themes, practices and methods of creative expression. Of the finalists showcased in the exhibition, the award recipients will be judged by Australian Centre for Photography Director and CEO Cherie McNair. The award will be hosted at HOTA (Home of the Arts) until 25 November. Pan
Pacific Masters Games - The biggest and best masters games in the world will bring over 13,000 competitors to the Gold Coast this November. For spectators, the Pan Pacific Masters Games provide the opportunity to witness some popular favourites, as well as some less common sporting competitions, in world class facilities across the Gold Coast. For a unique experience, check out the beach volleyball, dragon boats or calisthenics between 2 and 11 November.
Southport Yacht Club Carols on the Broadwater – Get in the spirit if Christmas … Gold Coast style. Just a short stroll from your Oscar on Main Beach accommodation, you can combine carols and the coastline this Christmas. On 15 December, Southport Yacht Club will welcome families for an evening of face painting, glow sticks, Santa and carols by the water … with proceeds going to the Salvation Army.
